CEL Studio is offering a new Actor Typing Workshop on Monday, May 13, from 6 to 9 pm. In it we cover the importance of understanding your playable types and how to translate that information to effective headshots. The goal being to increase your chances of being seen for roles you are right for.
We spend the majority of our time focusing on each actor individually to help define for them their playable types. That is, how they are perceived by those around them. Actors walk away with actionable, valuable, individualized information they can use to take their acting pursuits to the next level. |

Self Tape Boot Camp
Casting Directors in all markets, including this one, have confirmed “Actors need to know how to self tape.”
With the anticipated increase in film and episodic production, developing these necessary skills is incredibly important for performers.

During this 6-session course we will thoroughly cover self tape best practices and on-camera audition techniques.
Participants will have the chance to bring in their recording equipment and editing software to experiment with and experience a variety of self tape options.
Actors will work in front of the camera, focusing on audition sides, while developing their on-camera audition skills. Sides will be recorded and work will be reviewed.

Self Tape Workshop
On Saturday, June 3, from 1 to 5 pm, I am conducting a Self Tape Workshop, at Grain Belt Bottling House Studios in NE Mpls. In it we will cover self taping basics, remote auditions, and on-camera audition techniques, for both on-camera and stage auditions.
In the later part of the workshop each actor will have the option of either doing some prepared material on-camera and receive feedback, or sharing a pre-recorded self tape for feedback on their work and self tape setup.

On Saturday, May 6, from 1 to 4 pm, I am conducting an Actor Typing Workshop, at Grain Belt Bottling House Studios in NE Mpls. Connecting to Characters Through Monologues
Why do theaters ask actors to do monologues? Where do I look when I perform my monologue? Can I do a monologue written for someone different than me?
This acting class for teen and adult students of varying experience levels focuses on monologue work. We will cover industry expectations when doing monologues, different approaches to finding and selecting them, and acting tools students can use to connect with their chosen pieces to deliver unique and genuine work in class, auditions and performances.

The first installment of Upping Your Game begins with what every actor needs to know, whether you’re just starting out or well into your career; your marketable “types” – how you are perceived when you walk through the casting room door. From there we discuss the tools actors use to market themselves; headshots (what to strive for and what to avoid), actor demos (the different types of demos and industry expectations), websites and business cards. We finish the session with auditioning, and how to be a better auditioner.
